The Food Co is led by Simon Withnall, whose journey in hospitality began straight after leaving school. Simon’s hands-on experience, combined with a genuine passion for food and service, shapes everything we do at The Food Co.
The Food Co. was founded in 2019 after Simon recognised the need for good value catering in the local market. We quickly became the largest provider for the school lunch programme in Hawke’s Bay, serving up to 4,500 lunches daily.
Since then, our business has expanded to become an established food caterer for parties, corporate bookings and other events. Today, we’re equipped to handle multiple large events on the same day, with a team of 12, a purpose-built kitchen, a warehouse, and a fleet of six vans and two cars, delivering the same high standard of food and service every time. Our team go out of their way to deliver 100% for all our clients and we love helping people enjoy their special events.

We recommend booking earlier to secure your preferred date and menu but we are known for our quick turnaround times.
We don't have a minimum number. We are a yes company, so we will work with your requirements.
Yes. We have packages, but we can adjust to any client's wishes. For some events you can change your menu as little as seven days or less before the event.
Yes, we can cater for most dietary needs including gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, vegetarian, vegan and Halal. Please advise us of any allergies or restrictions when booking.
Yes. We can deliver directly to your workplace or function venue, and if needed, we can also set up the food with tableware and utensils. You can choose disposable serving dishes and bamboo utensils or upgrade to crockery and cutlery.
Yes, we do, because we operate out of Hastings but travel throughout Hawke's Bay.
